An electrician's paperwork changes which plan you need. Once compliance certificates and job timesheets are must-haves, every app on this page moves up at least one tier, and the cheapest choice for a one-person business stops being the one it is for most trades.
Why electricians get a different answer
Certificates decide the plan
Tradify puts compliance certificates on Pro, not Lite. ServiceM8 lets any plan buy ready-made forms but needs Growing to build your own. Ascora's custom forms start on Elite at $59 per user ex GST, and Fergus's forms need Professional, with certificates charged on top at $30 for up to nine staff. (Tradify pricing, checked )
So the free and cheapest plans drop out
Without forms, a sole trader doing fewer than about 11 jobs a week pays least on ServiceM8's Free or Starter plan. Add certificates and that plan no longer qualifies; ServiceM8's cheapest option becomes Growing, and Tradify Pro undercuts it for one person. (ServiceM8 pricing, checked )
Wholesaler pricing
Electricians buy most materials from wholesalers. AroFlo names Rexel among its connected suppliers; Ascora and Fergus name Reece; Tradify imports supplier price lists from CSV; ServiceM8 picks up price lists that suppliers email to you. (AroFlo pricing, checked )
