For a small plumbing or electrical crew Fergus is the cheaper way in: $53 per user ex GST for each full user, timesheet seats from $26, no minimum and no setup charge. AroFlo bills at least three users from $80 each and adds a setup package, so it only starts to make sense for a business big enough to use its stock control, Gantt planning and built-in compliance forms. Three Fergus users on Essentials come to $159 a month.

Where they really differ

Paying to get set up

Fergus says there are no set-up fees and throws in a one-hour onboarding session with a product specialist. AroFlo's Smart Start package begins at $1,450, rising to $2,900 when it includes implementation, before the first month's subscription. (Fergus pricing, checked )

Crews that change size

The two handle fluctuating teams differently. Fergus sells contractor users at $4 for each day they log time or are scheduled, and timesheet seats from $26 for permanent site staff. AroFlo's monthly billing counts whoever logs in during the period, never fewer than three, while its annual billing fixes a head count at a lower rate. (AroFlo FAQ, checked )

Merchants and price books

Both connect to Australian trade suppliers. Fergus names Reece and Tradelink and, on Professional, syncs supplier price books, invoices and purchase orders automatically. AroFlo names Reece and Rexel, the electrical wholesaler, and says more than 600 suppliers connect to it. (AroFlo pricing, checked )

Compliance paperwork

AroFlo lists inbuilt compliance and safety forms on its single plan. Fergus keeps forms, checklists and SWMS for Professional and bills certificates on top: $30 for up to nine staff, $80 for ten or more. (Fergus pricing, checked )

Stock and staged projects

AroFlo includes inventory kits, schedules of rates, detailed stock control and Gantt-chart project management for every customer. Fergus tracks materials on jobs and splits work into phases on Professional, but doesn't list stock control. (AroFlo pricing, checked )
